A gorgeous gentlemans' 14 carat solid rosegold Girard-Perregaux gentlemans' Art Deco vintage manual watch dating to the 1940's. In excellent overall condition, the dial and case present very well and the freshly oiled and adjusted movement is running and keeping time. The watch is triple signed on the case, dial and movement. Although this small watch was manufactured for a gentleman, it was produced at a time when 70 years ago ladies watches often measured only 12-14 mm in diameter and gents watches were intended to be much smaller than pocket watches which were still very much in vogue in the 1940's. Fashioned have changed over the years with gents watches now often the size of pocket watches. Today this watch is more suitable for a lady looking for a quality watch oozing with retro appeal. Please study carefully the dimensions of the watch shown in the description below below.
Dial: finished in salmon pink, complemeting the rose gold case beautifully. The dial signed "Girard Perregaux Swiss". Hours are marked by gold coloured Arabic numerals and dots. A subsidiary seconds dial is located at 6 o'clock. The hands are in very good shape and the crystal is clean and clear.
Case: 14 carat solid rose gold, signed "Girard Perregaux" (GP) and hallmarked as 14K gold. It is in very good condition, measuring approximately 22 mm across, excluding the rose gold crown and 33 mm from lug to lug. The case shows the expected signs of use over responsible use the years but no signs of abuse, dents or significant scratches that I could see.
Movement: Girard Perregaux 17 jewelled movement, freshly oiled and adjusted by my watchmaker, running well and keeping time.
Strap: fitted with a new old stock generic black leather lizard strap, which fitted to the watch measures approximately 210 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
