A fabulous Gruen Veri-Thin Precision 14 carat solid rose gold gentleman’s watch dating to the 1940's, in fabulous overall condition. The watch has a gorgeous chunky lugs and the dial complements the rose gold case, both of which present very well. The movement is running strongly and keeping time. This rare model always attracts considerable interest when I manage to find one. The watch is signed four times on the dial, case, crown and movement. Please note carefully the dimensions of the watch case shown below. Gents watches from this period were made much smaller than contemporary watches so this watch will also be of interest to a lady seeking a watch oozing with retro appeal.
Case: 14 carat solid rose gold in great condition. The outside of the rear cover is hallmarked as 14K gold and signed "Gruen", as is the inside. The case measures approximately 23 mm across, excluding the signed crown and 39 mm from lug to lug. It shows the expected signs of careful use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention. The reference number is 530-430. The first three numbers show that the case matches the cal. 530 Veri-Thin movement, a correct marriage with the movement. The last three numbers signify the case reference.
Dial: finished in salmon pink and signed "Gruen Veri-Thin Precision Switzerland". Gold coloured Arabic numerals and batons mark the hours, the hands are in very good shape and the crystal is clean and clear.
Movement: Gruen cal. 430 patented Veri-Thin movement with 17 jewels, running well and keeping time.
Strap: fitted with a generic brown leather strap. Fitted to the watch it measures approximately 210 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
