10 carat gold filled Memovox alarm watch from Jaeger LeCoultre, dating to 1955, in superb overall condition. This timepiece is one of the early versions of the alarm watch, signed "Wrist Alarm" on the dial (not "Memovox" as with the later models). It has an elegant case with long lugs in great condition and the stunning dial has a sweep seconds hand and an alarm arrow marker on the inner section. The watch was professionally serviced by a master watchmaker in 2017 and is running strongly and keeping time with the alarm function working perfectly. The signed crowns match. A new Hirsch strap has just been fitted and the crystal was replaced recently so this watch is ready to wear. It is signed in five places, on the dial, case, crowns and movement.
Dial: two tone satin silver finish signed “LeCoultre Wrist Alarm Swiss”. Gold coloured batons and black Arabic numerals mark the hours. The crystal is clean and clear. The dial has just been returned from professional restoration back to as it looked when new.
Case: 10 carat gold filled in very good condition, measuring approximately 32 mm across, excluding the matching signed crowns and 41 mm in overall length. The inside of the rear cover is marked "10K Gold Filled" and signed "LeCoultre". The case shows the expected signs of careful and clearly only infrequent use over 64 years use but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or significant scratches that I could see to point out to you. The crystal is clean and clear.
Movement: high quality 17 jewelled manual cal. 814 movement, freshly oiled and adjusted, running strongly and keeping time. The watch is wound and set by the lower crown and the alarm is wound and set by the upper crown. Both functions operate correctly. The serial number dates the watch to 1955.
Strap: fitted with a new Hirsch black leather strap which attached to the watch measures approximately 211 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
