A fabulous Jaeger LeCoultre 14 carat solid gold gentleman’s watch dating to 1948, 71 years old and in excellent overall condition. This watch looks gorgeous, a rare model which always attracts considerable interest when I manage to find one. The case has beautiful knotted design lugs, looking stunning on the wrist as does the dial. The freshly oiled and adjusted movement is running strongly and keeping time. The watch has been fitted with a new stitched and lightly padded brown leather lizard grain strap. Please note that although this watch was originally manufactured for a gentleman, contemporary gents watches are now produced in much larger sizes, often as large as pocket watches. Therefore this watch will also be of interest to a lady seeking a mid-size high end watch which oozes with retro appeal and elegance.
Case: 14 carat solid gold in great condition. The elegant and ornate lugs are a real feature of this watch. They are fashioned into a knot design and look stunning when the watch is worn. The inside of the rear cover is hallmarked as 14K gold. The case measures approximately 30 mm across, excluding the signed crown and 40 mm from lug to lug. It shows the expected signs of careful and probably infrequent use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Dial: satin silver finish, signed "LeCoultre Swiss" , in excellent condition. Gold coloured batons and black Arabic numerals mark the hours. The hands are in good shape and the crystal is clean and clear. The dial has just been returned from professional restoration.
Movement: LeCoultre cal 480CW signed movement with 17 jewels, freshly oiled and adjusted, running strongly and keeping time. The movement serial number dates the watch to 1948.
Strap: fitted with a new good quality brown leather lizard grain strap, which fitted to the watch measures approximately 208 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
