A fabulous18 carat solid gold gentlemans' manual wristwatch manufactured by Jaeger LeCoultre for the European market in c1948. This 71 year old watch watch is in original un-restored condition. It has been carefully looked after over the years so it is in great overall condition. The case stunning tear drop lugs and the factory original dial, presents very well. The watch is running strongly and keeping time. It signed on the dial case and movement.
Case: 18 carat solid gold in very good condition, measuring approximately 32 mm across excluding the crown (replaced at some time as with most manual watches of this age due to normal wear) and 38 mm from lug to lug. The inside of the case shows the manufacturers mark (a conifer in the centre with "L" and "C" on each side). It is hallmarked as 18 carat solid gold with a Swiss Assay and the outside of the case is hallmarked on the side opposite the crown. The case shows the inevitable signs of careful use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Dial: in original condition with hours marked by applied gold batons and Arabic numerals. The dial is signed "Jaeger LeCoultre". The hands are in good shape and the crystal is clean and clear. The dial is showing gentle patina, in a condition that many collectors love to see as it presents very well indeed on the wrist. The condition is significantly better than normally found on a watch of this age and much too good to consider any restoration which would most certainly devalue the watch.
Movement: 17 jewel movement, signed "Jaeger LeCoultre Swiss" with Geneve stripes, running well and keeping time. The serial number dates the watch to c1948.
Strap: fitted with a new long size brown leather lizard grain strap.
