JAEGER LECOULTRE 18K Solid Gold Vintage Gents Watch c1950

A beautiful 18 carat solid gold gentlemans' manual wristwatch manufactured by Jaeger LeCoultre for the European market in c1950, signed on the dial case and movement. It has a larger than average case for the period, measuring approximately 35 mm across. Having been carefully looked after over the years, this watch is in great overall condition, with an attractive case and dial, presenting very well on the wrist. It is running strongly and keeping time.

Case: 18 carat solid gold in very good condition, measuring approximately 35 mm across, the crown (replaced at some time as with most manual watches of this age due to normal wear) and 44 mm from lug to lug. The inside of the case shows the manufacturers mark (a conifer in the centre with "L" and "C" on each side). The case is hallmarked as 18 carat solid gold with a Swiss Assay, and the outside of the case is hallmarked on the side opposite the crown. The case shows the inevitable signs of careful use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention. There is a presentation engraving on the rear cover.

Dial: in very good condition, finished in satin silver with hours marked by applied gold batons and Arabic numerals. The dial is signed "Jaeger LeCoultre". The hands are in good shape and the crystal is clean and clear. The dial is showing very light patina, considerably less than normally found on a watch of this age.

Movement: 17 jewel movement, signed "Jaeger LeCoultre Swiss" with Geneve stripes, running well and keeping time. The serial number dates the watch to c1950.

Strap: fitted with a lightly used long size 17mm "Stuller" brown leather strap.
