A fabulous Longines 14 carat solid white gold gentlemans' Art Deco watch dating to 1958 so an amazing 60th birtday present for someone. This beautiful watch is in excellent overall condition. To have remained in this condition over the last 60 years, this watch must have spent more time carefully wrapped in a drawer than on someone's wrist. The classic case has a Florentins finish covering the whole of the case, very unusual and absolutely stunning. The hooded chevron lug ends look great. The beautiful dial is set with thirteen genuine diamonds set in white gold casings. Freshly oiled and adjusted, the movement is running strongly and keeping time. The watch is quadruple signed, on the dial, case, crown and movement. Please note carefully the watch case dimensions shown below. Gents Art Deco watches from the 1950's were made smaller than contemporary watches so this watch will also be of special interest to a lady looking for a beautiful vintage watch oozing with retro appeal and class. Dial: in excellent condition and presenting very well, finished in satin silver, signed "Longines" and bearing the famous winged emblem. Thirteen genuine diamonds set in white gold casings the hours and the dauphin hands are in very good condition. Located just above 6 o'clock is a subsidiary seconds dial with cross hairs. The crystal is clean and clear.
Case: 14 carat solid white gold with a Florentine finish, in excellent condition. The inside and outside of the case are hallmarked as "14K Gold" and the inside signed "Longines". The case measures approximately 38 mm from lug to lug and 25 mm across, excluding the signed crown. The case shows the inevitable light signs of careful and almost certainly infrequent use over the years but absolutely no evidence abuse or any blemishes of significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Movement: Longines signed calibre 9LT movement has 17 jewels set in solid gold casings. Having just been oiled and adjusted, the movement runs strongly with a good action and keeps time. The movement serial number dates the watch to 1958.
Strap: lightly used Italian made generic black genuine crocodile calf strap. The overall length from buckle tip to last hole is approximately 214 mm.
