A fabulous Omega Constellation stainless steel automatic chronometer wristwatch manufactured in c1966. In excellent overall condition, the case and dial present very well indeed and the movement runs strongly and keeps time. This timepiece is signed four times, on the case, dial, crown and movement.
The vintage Constellation was Omega's top of the range waterproof chronometer and today it remains one of the most ionic, sought after and collectible of all vintage watches. It is a high end model, produced to compete with other prestige watches made by its main competitors. A chronometer, as opposed to a choreograph (a stop watch), is a timepiece that has passed a series of stringent tests carried out by the world’s major observatories to demonstrate very accurate time keeping (hence the observatory emblem on the rear cover).
Dial: in excellent condition, finished in antique white with hours marked by applied silver coloured batons with black inserts. The dial is signed "Omega Automatic Chronometer Constellation Swiss Made". It also bears the Omega emblem and Constellation Star. The crystal is clean and clear and the hands are in very good shape. The dial looks to have been professionally restored within the last few years.
Case: stainless steel, in great condition with the crown bearing the Omega emblem. The case measures approximately 34 mm across excluding the crown, and 40 mm from lug to lug. It shows the expected light marks from careful and probably infrequent use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention. The back of the case displays the observatory emblem in the centre with all eight stars are visible.
Movement: Omega movement running well and keeping time. This watch is a top loader, requiring the crown and crystal to be removed to enable the movement to be lifted out from the front of the case. I do not have the tools to remove the movement so I am unable to show photos of it.
Strap: generic two tone black leather strap. Fitted to the watch, it measures approximately 220 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
