Rone 9 carat solid gold vintage gentlemans' cushion case watch manufactured in c1957. This timepiece is in great original condition and comes with its original Rone presentation box and instructions. The case looks great, as does the original dial and the movement is running perfectly and keeping time..Dial: in very good original unrestored condition with light, even patination. It has a sunburst finish sand the hours are marked by gold coloured Arabic numerals and batons. It is signed "Rone Sportsman Non-Magnetic Swiss Made" A subsidiary seconds dial is located just above six o'clock and the hands are in very good shape. The crystal has just been replaced.
Case: nine carat solid gold; in very good condition indeed, showing the expected light signs of the careful and probably infrequent use this watch has received over the years but nothing that I could see of any consequence to draw to your attention. The case measures approximately 30 mm across, excluding the crown. Looking inside the cover, it displays the Birmingham Assay and is hallmarked .375 (nine carat solid gold) and the Assay letter "H" which dates the watch to 1957. The case is also marked "ALD", showing it to have been manufactured by A.L. Dennison, a well known high end English casemaker supplying to other prestigious watchmakers, including Longines, Omega and Rolex. Please note that the case has no presentation engraving on the rear cover, which is highly unusual as most quality solid gold watches from this period were given as long service awards or for some other special event.
Movement: crisp looking Rone Sportsman 15 jewel Swiss manual movement, running perfectly and keeping time.
Strap: fitted with a new brown leather strap measuring approximately 225 mm from buckle end to last hole.
Box & Papers: less than 1% of the vintage watches I find have no box or papers as most people throw them away within a few years of purchase. This watch comes with its original Rone presentation box which is showing some scuffs; the papers are intact but are a little crumpled and have a few small tears.
