SORRY I HAVE BEEN PURCHASED

A stunning gents stainless steel automatic watch from the International Watch Company (IWC), one of the most prestigious watchmakers in the world. This example dates to 1961 and it is in great overall condition. The case and dial present very well indeed and the freshly oiled and adjusted cal. C853 movement, considered by aficionados to be the best movement ever produced by IWC, is running strongly and keeping time. This timepiece is triple signed on the dial, case and movement.

An IWC watch is a high end connoisseur’s timepice made by a low volume elite company which has a reputation among collectors for producing some of the finest quality watches in the world. The movements in these watches are pure works of art and of a quality which is second to none. To those who have only a passing interest in top quality watches, an IWC watch is not immediately obvious as a high end timepiece but at auctions, hammer prices of IWC models often surpass the levels reached by more well known high end makes. IWC watches are truly remarkable and HIGHLY sought after by collectors (who must have at least one) as well people wanting to wear a watch with elegance and understated class.

Case: made of stainless steel, in very good condition measuring approximately 35 mm across, excluding the unsigned crown and 43 mm from lug to lug. The inside of the rear cover is fully signed by IWC and includes the famous circular logo containing the words “IWC Probus Schafusia”.

Dial: in excellent condition, signed “International Watch Co. Schaffhausen Automatic Swiss”. Hours are marked by silver coloured batons. The crystal is clean and clear; the hands show some tarnishing. The dial has just been professionally and faithfully restored to a high standard, back to as it looked when new.

Movement: cal C853 IWC automatic movement with 17 jewels, freshly oiled and adjusted, running perfectly and keeping time. Signed “International Watch Co. Swiss”, the serial number dates the watch to 1961.

Strap: fitted with a generic brown stitched and lightly padded leather crocodile grain strap, which attached to the watch measures approximately 215 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
