Sorry I have been purchased
This Jaeger LeCoultre gentlemans' 14 carat solid gold Memovox alarm watch is a beautiful and rare model dating to 1963. Most Memovox watches seen for sale are gold filled. A smaller number were manufactured with stainless steel cases but the ones that are rarely seen are solid gold models as in comparison few were manufactured. This watch is in fabulous condition, having probably only received light use over the last 55 years, as is the case with so many presentation watches. The case looks great as does the two piece black enamel dial which has a sweep seconds hand and an alarm arrow marker on the inner section. The manual movement is running strongly, keeping time and the alarm function is working perfectly. Jaeger LeCoultre has built up a reputation for producing beautiful and innovative watches to the highest standards of quality and precision and this watch is no exception. The watch is signed in three places, on the dial, case and movement.
Case: 14 carat solid gold in great condition. The case measures approximately 34 mm across, excluding the matching crowns and 39 mm in overall length. The inside of the rear cover is signed LeCoultre and the outside is hallmarked as 14K solid gold as is the outside. This watch has been carefully looked after over 55 years showing the expected light marks from careful and probably infrequent use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or significant scratches that I could see to point out to you. The two crowns match. There is a presentation engraving on the rear cover.
Dial: in pristine condition, finished in black enamel and signed “LeCoultre Memovox Swiss Made”. Applied gold coloured batons mark the hours. The hands are in great shape and the recently replaced crystal is clean and clear. The dial has just come back from professional restoration to a high standard.
Movement: high quality 17 jewelled manual cal. K814 movement, signed "LeCoultre". Freshly oiled and adjusted by my watchmaker, the mechanism is running perfectly and keeping time. The watch is wound and set by the lower crown and the alarm is wound and set by the upper crown. Both functions operate correctly.
Strap: fitted with a used black leather strap which attached to the watch measures approximately 217 mm from buckle tip to last hole. I will also be sending to the successful buyer a new black leather strap.
