SORRY I HAVE BEEN PURCHASED
A gorgeous Longines fourteen carat solid gold Art Deco gentlemans' vintage manual watch dating to 1952, in excellent overall condition. The classic Longines rectangular case and black enamel present very well indeed and the freshly oiled and adjusted movement is running strongly and keeping time. The watch is triple signed, on the dial, case, and movement. Art Deco Longines watches are now becoming very hard to find as most seem to have disappeared into private collections. Do not miss the opportunity to buy this fabulous vintage watch. Please note carefully the dimensions of this watch, shown below. Art Deco watches from this period were made much smaller than contemporary watches so this timepiece will also be of interest to a lady looking for a stunning watch oozing with period appeal.
Dial: finished in black enamel and signed "Longines", together with the famous winged emblem. Hours are marked by applied gold batons and an Arabic number twelve. The Dauphin hands are in very good shape and a subsidiary seconds dial with cross hairs is located just above the 6 o'clock position. The crystal, is clean and clear. The dial has just been returned from professional restoration to a very high standard.
Case: 14 carat solid gold in great condition, presenting very well on the wrist. The inside and outside of the case are hallmarked as 14K gold and the inside is signed "Longines". It measures approximately 39 mm from lug to lug and 25 mm across, excluding the crown. The case shows the inevitable signs of light use over the years but no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Movement: freshly oiled and adjusted, the Longines cal. 9LT movement has 17 jewels set in solid gold casings. It is running well and keeping time. The serial number dates the watch to 1952. This power unit is probably Longines most famous and reliable unit, used in their watches from the 1930's through to the 1960's.
Strap: fitted with a lightly used black leather strap which attached to the watch measures approximately 217 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
