SORRY I HAVE BEEN PURCHASED
A Longines fourteen carat solid gold Art Deco gentlemans' vintage manual watch dating to 1959, in very good overall condition. The classic Longines rectangular case and the two tone dial present very well. The freshly oiled and adjusted movement is running strongly and keeping time. A good quality Hadly Roma leather strap is fitted and the crystal was replaced recently so this watch is ready to wear. The watch is triple signed, on the dial, case, and movement. Art Deco Longines watches are now becoming very hard to find as most seem to have disappeared into private collections. Do not miss the opportunity to buy this fabulous vintage watch.
Dial: two tone satin silver in great condition, signed "Longines Swiss" together with the famous winged emblem. Hours are marked by applied gold batons with an Arabic number 12. The hands are in very good shape and a recessed subsidiary seconds dial is located just above the 6 o'clock position. The crystal is clean and clear. I believe the dial has been professionally restored to a high standard at some time as I would not expect the factory original dial to be in such fine condition.
Case: 14 carat solid gold in very good condition, presenting well on the wrist. The inside and outside of the case are hallmarked as 14K gold and the inside is signed "Longines". It measures approximately 39 mm from lug to lug and 26 mm across, excluding the crown. The case shows the inevitable signs of use over the years but no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Movement: freshly oiled and adjusted, the Longines cal. 23Z movement has 17 jewels set in solid gold casings. It is running well and keeping time. The serial number dates the watch to 1959. This power unit, together with the 9L are probably Longines most famous and reliable units, used in their watches for more than 30 years.
Strap: fitted with a Hadley Roma brown leather strap which attached to the watch measures approximately 208 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
