Sorry I am sold
An 18 carat solid gold Longines Flagship gentlemans' vintage automatic watch in excellent overall condition It was manufactured 57 years ago in 1961. The case and dial look great and the automatic movement is running perfectly and keeping time. Flagship models are rarely seen and the 18 carat model is rarer still. And it bears the highly desirable Flagship emblem on the rear case cover so this is a highly collectible watch. It comes with its original Longines Flagship presentation box and guarantee certificate which as they are normally thrown away within just a few years of purchase, add a significant premium to the value of the watch.
Dial: signed "Longines Flagship Automatic Swiss Made" and bearing the famous winged emblem. The dial is finished in satin silver with hours marked by applied gold coloured coloured batons and Arabic numerals. The hands are in very good shape and the crystal is clean and clear.
Case: 18 carat solid gold in very good condition indeed. It measures approximately 42 mm from lug to lug and 35 mm across, excluding the signed crown. The case is signed Longines Flagship on the inside and hallmarked as 18K solid gold. The outside of the case shows the Longines Flagship in sharp relief, a clear indication that this watch has not been worn regularly. The case shows the inevitable light signs of careful use over the years but absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Movement: crisp and clean Longines cal. 340 automatic movement with 17 jewels, running perfectly and keeping time, The serial number, dates the watch to 1961. If you look at the photograph of the movement you will see that the rotor is slightly off centre. This, together with a sophisticated ratchet mechanism is designed to make the rotor more sensitive to movement.
Strap: fitted with a Hirsch brown leather strap which fitted to the watch measures approximately 229 mm from buckle end to the last hole.
Presentation Box and Papers: Longines presentation box signed on the inside and outside and bearing the Longines Flagship on the outside. It is in very good condition with good hinges but missing the insert which holds the watch in place. The Longines guarantee certificate was never completed as was and still is so often the case.
