SORRY I HAVE BEEN PURCHASED
A rarely seen Lord Elgin "Chevron Jump Hour" 14 carat gold filled gents watch manufactured in c1957 in great original un-restored condition. Elgin's top of the range superior grade watches, produced during the first half of the 20th century were called "Lord and Lady Elgin"; they had heavier jewelled movements, many of which were of near chronometer grade and were awarded the Elgin Observatory Certificate for "excellence in timekeeping". In the 1950's, as the sale of Elgin watches started to decline, the company started to produce innovative watches to boost sales. The "Jump Hour" is one of them. Elvis Presley owned and wore one, although he had the rectangular Lord Elgin version. You will see from the photographs that the watch has an aperture showing a digital display. The lower numbers show the time in minutes and when it reaches zero the hour number shown above the minutes track, clicks over to the next number, hence the name "Jump Hour". The watch is in good cosmetic condition and the movement runs well and keeps time.
