SORRY I HAVE BEEN PURCHASED
An outstanding Omega Constellation 18 carat solid rose gold bumper automatic chronometer wristwatch manufactured in 1954, in excellent overall condition. The case and dial present beautifully and the freshly oiled and adjusted movement runs perfectly and keeps time. This timepiece has been very well cared for and from its condition, like so many expensive high end watches, can only have been worn occasionally. The strap is fitted with a gold plated Omega buckle and the crystal was replaced recently. The watch is signed five times times on the case, dial, crown, movement and buckle.
The vintage Constellation was Omega's top of the range waterproof chronometer and it remains one of the most sought after and collectible of all vintage watches. And the bumper model is highly sought after due to its rarity, especially the 18 carat gold model. The Constellation competed with other prestige watches made by its main competitors. In its day it was considered to be the best of the best, out-shining even a Rolex Oyster. A chronometer, as opposed to a chronograph (a stop watch), is a timepiece that has passed a series of stringent tests to demonstrate very accurate time keeping (hence the emblem on the rear cover).
Dial: finished in satin silver, in great condition presenting very well on the wrist, with hours marked by stunning applied rose gold coloured batons. The dial is signed "Omega Automatic Chronometer Constellation Officially Certified Swiss Made". It also bears the Omega emblem and the Constellation star. The hands are in very good condition and the signed crystal is clean and clear. The dial has recently been professionally restored to a very high standard.
Case: 18 carat solid rose gold, in great condition, measuring approximately 35 mm across, excluding the signed crown and 43 mm from lug to lug. Looking inside the snap on back cover it is signed "Omega" and is hallmarked with an 18K gold Assay. The observatory emblem on the back shows all eight stars visible. The case shows absolutely no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance that I could see to draw to your attention.
Movement: beautifully crisp and clean Omega cal. 354 bumper automatic chronometer grade movement with 17 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperatures. It is running strongly and keeping time. The serial number, dates the watch to 1954.
Strap: lightly used brown leather crocodile grain strap fitted with a gold plated Omega buckle. Attached to the watch, the strap measures approximately 216 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
It is not often that you see a watch that is 65 years old in this condition. The vintage Omega Constellation is a highly collectible timepiece and a sound investment, particularly so the 18 carat solid gold model. Do not pass by the opportunity to buy this beautiful watch.
