SORRY I HAVE BEEN PURCHASED
A rare opportunity to buy a completely original watch, rarely worn and in amazing un-restored condition, It is an Omega Seamaster De Ville 14 carat solid gold gentlemans' automatic wristwatch manufactured 54 years ago in 1965, running well and keeping time. It is fitted with what must be its original vintage Omega 11/16" leather strap fitted with a 10 carat gold filled buckle, the crystal is signed with the Omega symbol etched into the centre and the signed crown is original. The watch comes with its original chromed Omega box. This is a truly wonderful find. It is not often that a cherished watch that has spent most of its time carefully stored in a drawer comes up for sale. As with this one, they are usually presentation watches which are so treasured that they are rarely used. It has been in my personal collection for a while, one of my favourites but I have decided to sell it to make way for new additions. My watchmaker removed the movement for me to photograph it as well as the inside of the case. He was astounded at the pristine condition of the movement. It looks just as it did when it came off the factory bench. He also took the opportunity to oil and adjust the movement for me. Unfortunately his dark workshop does not do the movement justice.
Dial: pristine factory original, signed "Omega Automatic Seamaster De Ville Swiss Made". Applied gold coloured batons mark the hours. The hands are in very good shape and the signed crystal is clean and clear.
Case: 14 carat solid gold, hallmarked between the lugs at one end (see photo below). The case is in excellent condition with crisp sharp edges and measures approximately 34 mm across, excluding the original signed crown and 42 mm from lug to lug. It is signed Omega on the inside of the back cover. There is a 1966 presentation engraving on the rear cover.
Movement: beautifully crisp and clean cal. 550 automatic movement with 17 jewels, freshly oiled and adjusted, running strongly and keeping time. The serial number dates the watch to 1965.
Strap: fitted with its original Omega leather strap, fitted with a 10K gold filled buckle. Attached to the watch it measures approximately 200 mm from buckle tip to last hole.
Box: original Omega presentation box signed inside and bearing the Omega emblem outside. The condition of the inside is very good with no tears or obvious marks and it has good hinges. The outside has scuff marks.
